Freemasons Foundation Victoria deliver some hope

Just before Christmas, MSFIN received some fantastic news – our grant application to the Freemasons Foundation Victoria (FFV) to help continue our Hampers of Hope program had been given a massive thumbs up.

With the generous support of the FFV, MSFIN was one of 27 recipients in 2021’s Community Grants Program and received $30,000 which will provide 100 hampers to vulnerable families in crisis over the coming year.

“As another tumultuous year draws to a close, we are proud to be announcing funding for some incredibly valuable projects that promise to benefit the Victorian community. These grants will support charities to help those in need or empower the youth of Victoria to achieve their dreams,” said Rodney Lavin, Chairman, Freemasons Foundation Victoria.

In 2020, MSFIN received 58 requests from its partner support agencies for a Hampers of Hope and that need continued throughout 2021. Each hamper, worth approximately $300, contains items such as laundry, pantry staples, basic appliances, cleaning essentials (detergents, pegs, rubber gloves, mops/buckets), toiletries and personal care products.

“We’re supporting organisations that are delivering vital services to benefit those individuals and cohorts in society that may otherwise fall through the cracks –from people struggling with mental health issues to those experiencing disadvantage that hinders their access to education,” said Mr Lavin.

“Freemasons Foundation Victoria recognises the dedication and hard work of staff and volunteers involved in these charities, and we’re proud to contribute to a stronger, healthier Victoria by supporting them.”

MSFIN was one of only 27 recipients of last year’s Community Grants program and is incredibly grateful for the generosity of the FFV.

“Our Hampers of Hope are as their name implies,” said Donna Cartwright, MSFIN President. “These hampers to help get families back on their feet by allowing them to focus on healing and recovering, without added financial or material aid pressures. MSFIN is overwhelmed by this generous funding from FFV and know it will help support families when they need it the most.”

Thanks to the generosity of Victorian Freemasons, past and present, public donors, and the foundation’s careful investment of those funds, FFV has been making grants each year in support of charities to help build a stronger and healthier Victoria. Since November 2014, FFV has made nearly 2,500 grants totalling $13.8m.
